Is Logic Exceptional as a Science?

Abstract
In this article, we address the question, “Is classical logic a scientific theory?” and, if so, “Is logic revisable like other scientific theories or is it an exception among them?” Another question we consider is, “Can the difference between two rival logics be reduced to a difference in the meaning of their logical constants?” The view we defend in this article is that the relation between intuitive logic and symbolic logic is like the relation between our intuitive understanding of space and time and modern physical scientific theories. Although physical theories are revisable, they must ultimately be examined in terms of our intuitive understanding of space and time. At the same time, at some levels inaccessible to the five human senses, it is possible for these two levels to contradict each other. Furthermore, we show that the classical contradiction is not definable in intuitionistic logic and therefore, the difference between the two logics is fundamental.
